IMCAP-ND Music Therapy Assessment Course
IMCAP-ND Training Overview
The IMCAP-ND Music Therapy Assessment Training is a comprehensive hybrid course that introduces music therapists to the Individual Music Centered Assessment Profile for Neurodevelopmental Variants, a music-centered assessment model used internationally in both clinical and research contexts. The IMCAP-ND examines how clients perceive, understand and create music with the therapist while offering a detailed view of musical social emotional responses, cognitive and perceptual processing and overall responsiveness as a means of informing the therapist's music.
This training blends self paced learning with three live instructional days led by Dr .John A Carpente, creator of the IMCAP-ND. Participants learn to administer, score and interpret the three rating scales, implement musical protocols, design targeted musical experiences and generate individualized narrative reports using the IMCAP-ND automated report generator. The IMCAP-ND has been psychometrically tested for reliability and validity, equipping therapists with an evidence supported framework. The course provides 30 CMTE credits and includes extensive manuals, videos and resources to support learning and application.
