Mission

Our Mission is to help children, adolescents and adults with Neurodevelopmental Disorders, and Developmental and Emotional challenges engage in essential social interactions by providing the highest quality of professional consultation, support services, training and unparalleled DIRFloortime and music therapy interventions. Each of our individualized programs cater to both families and professionals.

John A. Carpente, Ph.D., MT-BC, NRMT, LCAT, DIR-C

John A. Carpente, Ph.D., MT-BC, LCAT, is a Professor of music therapy at Molloy College, Founder & Executive director of the Rebecca Center for Music Therapy and founding director of the Center for Autism and Child Development at Molloy College. He is also the Founding music therapist and creator of the DIRFloortime-based music therapy clinical and training program at the Rebecca School in New York City where he participated in weekly supervision meetings with Dr. Stanley Greenspan (creator of the DIR Model). Dr. Carpente has over 20 years of clinical and supervisory experience working in a variety of clinical settings serving children, adolescents, and adults with neurodevelopmental disorders. He received his Master of Arts degree at the Steinhart School of Education at New York University where he also completed post-graduated advanced certification training, Levels 1 & 2, in Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy. He completed his Ph.D. from Temple University where he received several research and clinical practice awards for innovation and contributions to the field of music therapy. Dr. Carpente is also certified as an Expert DIRFloortime Practitioner and trainer by the Interdisciplinary Council for Development & Learning.

Dr. Carpente has written several peer reviewed journal articles, book chapters and authored the Individual Music-Centered Assessment Profile for Neurodevelopmental Disorders (IMCAP-ND) and created the Developmental Relationship-based Music Therapy Model.  He has lectured and conducted trainings worldwide has received numerous awards for his research and clinical contributions to the field.
